Mordechai Arieli was born in Poland in 1909. He immigrated to Israel in 1926. He studied at The Bezalel Academy Jerusalem; Continued advanced studies at the Grande Chaumiere, Paris between 1931-34. He was a founder member of the New Horizons Group. Awarded the Dizengoff Prize on two occasions. He died in 1993.
