Ephraim Lifschitz was born in 1909, Stolin, Poland. In 1933-35 he lived in Paris and immigrated to Israel in 1935. Studies: 1945-48 with Streichman, Avni and Steimatsky; 1951-52 advanced studies, Grande Chaumiere, Paris. Prizes: 1958 Dizengoff Prize; 1968 Histadrut Award; 1988 Nachum Gutman Histadrut Award for the Arts. 1951-60 Founding member of “Group of Ten” artists; 1953 founding member of Ein Hod Artists’ Village. 1970 Head of Artists’ Colony, Safed. 1970-80 Member of Rostrum Group. 1986 Member of Selection Committee for Dizengoff Prize. He now lives in Tel Aviv.
